Obituary

Barbara A. Zeigler, 75, of Winchester, died at Winchester Hospital on December 13th. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Robert E., Sr. and Frances G. (Fitzgerald) Maher. Barbara was raised in Winchester, attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Winchester High School with the class of 1948. She attended Regis College in Weston and received her B.S. in education in 1952.

She married the late Brooks M. Zeigler in 1970 with whom she shared many happy years.

As a civilian teacher with the United States Air Force, Barbara taught all over the world, including such places as Copenhagen, North Africa, Germany, London and Saudi Arabia.

In her spare time she enjoyed playing bridge at the Jenks Senior Center, where she was also a volunteer.

Barbara was the dear sister of Pat Harris and her late husband Leo of Billerica, Mary Sullivan and her husband Bill of Reading and the late Robert Maher.

She was the sister-in-law of Richard and Elsie Wooten of Texas, David and Chris Zeigler of North Carolina, William and the late Lynn Zeigler of Oklahoma.

Step-mother of Shawn Branstard and Shiva Hardee of New Mexico. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home 177 Washington St. Winchester on Saturday, Dec. 16th at 8AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 9AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
