Mrs. Sara "Jennie" Nelson Kunes, 78, of Tifton, died Saturday, December 9, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 1927, in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Glenn Martin will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 10, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Kunes was born on December 11, 1927 in Tift County and was the daughter of J. G. Nelson and Willie Mae Jacobs Nelson, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one son, Douglas Nelson Kunes; one brother, Rex Nelson; and one sister, Betty Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tifton.
Ms. Kunes is survived by her husband of 60 years, G. Gerald Kunes of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Joe Kunes, Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, of Tifton; one sister, Billie Puckett of Saint Augustine, Florida; three grandchildren and their spouses, Nelson Kunes and his wife, Christy, Amy Tinsley and her husband, Steven and Patrick A. Kunes; two great grandchildren, Madison and Landon Tinsley; and one niece and one nephew and their spouses, Tom Puckett, Jr. and his wife, Beth, of Orlando, Florida and Peggy Clements and her husband, Moe, of Tifton.
