Obituary

LOWELL - Leo W. Ackley, 78, of Dracut, died Monday, December 4th at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell. He was the husband of the late Virginia M. (Ryan) Ackley.

He was born on December 13, 1927 in Lowell, the son of the late Henry C. and Laura (McCrossin) Ackley.

Leo attended Lowell schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a truck driver for over 48 years. He was a member of VFW Post 662 in Lowell, American Legion Post #313 in North Chelmsford, Lowell Lodge of Elks #87, Teamsters Local 49, and Nabnasset Country Club in Westford.

Leo is survived by two sons Lee Ackley and his wife Mary Ellen of Dracut and William Ackley and his wife Diane of Dracut, two grandchildren Brian Ackley and his wife LaShanta of Lowell and Elizabeth Parkinson and her husband Mark of Littleton, a sister Marie P. Donnelly of Milford, NH, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, on Friday from 4 until 8 PM. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 AM. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Salvation Army, 150 Appleton St, Lowell, MA 01852.
