Obituary

Arthur Aucoin, 83, formerly of Center St., Bellingham, died Saturday at Mt. St. Francis Health Center in Woonsocket. He was the husband for 60 years of Loretta (Riquier) Aucoin.
Born in Mechanicville, CT, he was a son of the late Arthur and Rose (Choiniere) Aucoin.
Mr. Aucoin was a United States Army veteran of WWII. He served throughout the Pacific Theater and was awarded the following decorations: The Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Congressional Distinguished Unit Citation, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon.
Mr. Aucoin worked for the Masurel Company for 17 years, and also worked for the CVS Corp. for over 20 years.
He was a member of the China-Burma-India Veterans Association, the Company B, 1st Battalion, 97th Division Merrill’s Marauders Assoc.. BASHA Veterans Group of Rhode Island.
He was a member of the Franklin Country Club, and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steven D. Aucoin, of Woonsocket. He was the brother of Pierre Aucoin, of Woonsocket, Leon Aucoin, of Vermont, Yvette Gagnon, of Pennsylvania, Pearl Desplaines, of California, and the late Robert Aucoin, Evelyn Robitallie, and Lillian Godon. He also survived by 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 am from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 S. Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Theresa’s Church, Rathbun St., Blackstone. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Mt.
