Ernest D. Pesce, age 85 of Woburn for over thirty years formerly of Somerville died November 30th at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis J. (DeCologero) Pesce. Born in Providence, RI he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Rosa (Scovelli) Pesce.
Ernest retired from the Town of Arlington as a heavy equipment operator following a thirty-five year career. Mostly devoted to his family, Ernest enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren, caring for his garden, traveling to Arizona and also enjoyed playing bingo. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII serving from 1940 - 1945. He was also a member of Arlington´s American Legion Post.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ernest is predeceased by his son Ernest Pesce Jr. He is survived by his children, Dolores McCormack and her husband Richard of Arizona, Stephen Pesce of Everett, Mary Wuertz and her husband Dale of Arizona and Karen Pesce Gallagher of Woburn. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Christina Strickland, Michelle Schlote, Richard McCormack, Ashley Gallagher, Ernie, Cherise, Sheena, Stevie and Chanel Pesce. He is further survived by nine loving great grandchildren.
Funeral from the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Wednesday, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
