John Torra of Reading passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Wingate at Reading. He was 85 years of age.
Born in Baronio, Italy, John was the beloved son of the late Joseph Torra and Lucia (Barrasso) Torra. John was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed.
John was a devoted member of The Teamsters Local # 25. He loved deer hunting and traveling to Maine. John enjoyed landscaping in his yard. He had a love for his family that went unparalleled. He liked dogs and was responsible for building many beautiful homes in the town of Reading. During World War II, John proudly defended our country as a Technician Fifth Grade in the United States Army.
John was the beloved husband for 65 years of Patricia (Pennachio) Torra. He was the devoted father of Jean Burns and her husband Richard of Groveland, Tony Torra and his wife Mary of Reading and the late John Torra Jr. John was the herished grandfather of Patty Bauer and her husband Scott, Marie Byrne and her husband David, Anthony, Michael and Joseph Torra. He was the loving great grandfather of 2 and the dear brother of Josephine DeGregorio and her husband Gerald.
A Funeral Mass celebrating John’s life will be held on Friday at 10am in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St. READING. Interment Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
