Obituary

TRUDY KIRKENDALL, died at home after a short illness, on Nov. 10, 2006. She leaves her dear mother, Gertrude Lewis (aged 108) of Newton, MA; her beloved husband Jack Wallinger; she was a devoted sister of Mary Martin who resides in Oregon. Her three stepchildren, six step-grandchildren, her nephew, her nieces, her cousins and her extended family and friends will dearly miss her. Her brother, Alan Roode, and her father, George Roode predeceased her.

Ms. Kirkendall was a long-time resident of Winchester, MA. She was born in New Bedford, MA. A bookkeeper and accountant professional trained at Bentley College, she was an independent professional career woman working in Boston for many decades before marrying her first husband, Marlowe Kirkendall when in her late 50s. She later began her long and successful real estate career in Winchester working first at Century 21 and then at Hunneman. A learned student of architectural and historical preservation, Ms. Kirkendall was active in the Winchester Historical Society. She loved the study of archaeology and was very keen to bring positive awareness for many important historical issues to the public's attention through her work and volunteer efforts.

A Celebration of her Life will be held in her honor on Thursday, November 30, 2006 from 5:00-7:00pm at 12 Rangeley Ridge Road, Winchester, MA. Friends are invited to visit and share their memories of Trudy’s life. In lieu of flowers, support offered in her memory to the Winchester Historical Society c/o Charlene Band, 61 Hutchinson Rd. Winchester, MA 01890 would be suggested.
