Mary P. (Pateakos) Nanos, 76, of New Bedford died Wednesday September 25, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late James Nanos, and daughter of the late Peter and Areto (Behrakis) Pateakos.
Mrs. Nanos was born in New Bedford and had lived here for all of her life. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1945.
A parishioner of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, she was very active in the Church and was a member of its Ladies Philoptochos Society for 45 years, serving as treasurer for 25 years.
Mrs. Nanos was formerly employed as an auditor for Sears Roebuck for over 40 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed traveling many times to Europe and the Middle East to visit with her son and his family.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Peter Nanos and his wife Connie, of Thessaloniki, Greece; a brother, John Pateakos and his wife Clarice, of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Alexander Nanos and Marialena Nanos, both of Greece; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday September 29, 2002 from 5-9 PM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
