Anna M. DiPietro, Of Somerville, died Friday after a long illness in the Union Hospital Lynn, MA.
Born in Hartford, CT, she lived in Somerville since 1947 and was the daughter of the late Rosalia (Malinguaggio) and Santo Cocivera. Anna was a Guidance Counselor at Somerville High School for 10 years and retired in 1995. Prior to that she was a teacher and Vice Principal at Northeastern, Western and Southern Jr. High Schools in Somerville for 25 years and she also taught in the Windsor Connecticut School system. She was a 1942 graduate of Hartford High School, a 1946 graduate of Tufts University in Medford, and received her Masters Degree in Education in 1965 at Boston State College. Anna was past President of Matignon Mother’s Guild and a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, St. Benedict School Board, REAM “Retired Educator Association of Massachusetts” and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Beloved wife of the late Paul A. DiPietro. Devoted mother of Paul J. DiPietro and his wife Marilyn of Melrose, Joan M. Gardner and her husband David of Stoneham, Robert S. DiPietro and his wife Margaret DiPietro of Tewksbury. Loving grandmother of Robert Paul, Jessica Anne, Lisa Maria, Kimberly Ann, Melissa Marie, and Christopher Paul. Sister of Joseph “Pipi” Cocivera, and Rosaria “Sadie” Forte both of CT.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Thursday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Benedict Church, 21 Hathorne St., Somerville, at 10 AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Tuesday 4 – 8, Wednesday 2 - 4 and 7 – 9.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
