Obituary


Virginia (Ginny) Haskell Allen, 80 died peacefully Thanksgiving morning, 2006 at The Groton Regency Nursing Home.

Virginia was born on May 28, 1926 in Stafford Springs, CT; the daughter of Arnold and Annie Farra Haskell.

Virginia married George H. Allen of Manchester, CT on April 3, 1948 and soon after settled in Ledyard, CT where they made a home and raised a thriving family. She and her family lived in their home of 10 Marla Avenue for over 40 years. Virginia enjoyed her days as a homemaker and honed her skills as an avid and inventive baker and chef. She made a lasting impression on every family member’s taste buds with unique recipes including; one hundred dollar chocolate chip cookies, broken glass cake, strawberry daiquiri pie and pudding pops.

In her later years, Virginia developed a love for books, gardening and professional sports.

Besides her husband, Virginia is survived by her sister, Arlene Cox and husband Edward of Tolland, CT; a daughter Deborah Agripino and husband Mario of Ledyard; a daughter Valerie Clark and husband Wes of Groton; 6 grandchildren: Christa Sprinkel, Allyson Sprinkel, Jessica Monahan, Lauren Rogers, Delia Welge and Marcia Agripino. She is survived by 5 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Carl A. Allen.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 1-1:45pm, immediately followed by a Service at 2pm.
