Luis "Ti Luis" Ramos Morais, 67, of Mindelo, Saõ Vincente, Cape Verde, died Wednesday September 25, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. He was the husband of Isabel V. Morais.
Born in Saõ Vincente, he was the son of the late Guilhermina Ramos and Raimundo Morais.
Mr. Morais was employed by the Saõ Vincente Public Schools as a music teacher for over 25 years. He was also the maestro for the "Banda de Praça". He was one of the founders of the band "Voz de Cabo Verde' in the 1960s. Throughout his career as an international musician he released over 30 LPs, most of which can be now found on CDs.
He was a great man, a great father, and a great husband
Survivors include his wife; 4 sons, Jorge Morais of East Providence, RI, Anildo Morais of Martinique, Jose Morais Gonçalves and Luis Morais Gonçalves, both of Taunton; 2 daughters, Sissi Morais of New Bedford and Celeste Morais of Boston; a sister, Inez Ramos of Cape Verde; a brother, Manuel Morais of Cape Verde; many grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including his nephew, Antonio Morais of New Bedford; and many fans and friends throughout the world.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Saturday, Sept. 27, 2002, from 2-4 and 6-9 PM.Funeral Services and burial will take place in Saõ Vincente, Cape Verde.
