Albert J. Owen, 85, of Cedar Meadows Drive,President of the Henry A. Evers Company retiring in 1987 died Friday, November 10th, at Hebert’s Nursing Home in Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Dorothy J. Owen.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Albert J. and Sarah J.(O’Donnell) Owen, he lived in Smithfield since 1978, previously residing in Warwick and Scituate, RI.
Mr. Owen was a World War II Navy veteran and served on the USS Arkansas. He served in both the Atlantic and the Pacific during the war. Among his many hobbies was his love of woodworking and photography. Both his workshop and dark room were his kingdoms and he will live on in his wonderful creations.
He is survived by his children, Albert J. Owen III, Ph.D and his wife Jean of West Chester, PA; David J. Owen, of Trenton, NJ; Jane Owen of Smithfield; M. Jeanne Troiano and her husband, James, of Sarasota, FL; a sister, Muriel Kelley of Johnston; two grandchildren, James Troiano of Tulsa, OK and Jaime Lynn Troiano of Missoula, MT and his dog Boris Badenoff Yelpsin.
A funeral service will be Friday, November 24, 2006, at 11:00am in the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation Friday 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 201 Pitman Street, Providence, RI 02909.
