Obituary

WORCESTER_George J. Kadis, Sr., 90, formerly of Worcester and West Boylston, died on Tuesday, November 14, at the Odd Fellows Home, 134 Randolph Road. His wife of 67 years, Barbara H. (Spiglanin) Kadis, died in 2005. He leaves two sons, Paul T. Kadis of West Boylston, Robert T. Kadis and his wife Jane of Worcester; a sister Eleanor McCabe of Rumson, NJ; 4 grandchildren, Denise Hooper of California, Jaffrey Kadis of Sweden, Jennifer Kadis of Paxton, and Michael Kadis of Worcester, 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat “Rosie”.
George was born in Worcester, the son of Joseph and Ellen (Savage) Kadis and lived here most of his life. He worked in the abrasive department of Norton Company for 40 years before retiring in 1978. He graduated from the former Classical High School. Mr. Kadis was a professional baseball pitcher for 6 years know as “Lefty Kadis” winning 96 games in those seasons. He was an avid Red Sox fan who was happy to see them win the World Series. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, bingo and dancing. George was also an avid golfer who once scored a whole in one at The Greenhill Community Golf Course.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, November 18 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Saturday, from 8:30 to 9:30 am.
