Florence "Florentina" (Livramento) Almeida, 84, of New Bedford died Friday November 10, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late John J. Almeida.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Jose Flor and Maria Virginia (Freitas) Livramento, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. She was active in many church organizations, and had been President of the Our Lady of the Assumption Club.
Mrs. Almeida was formerly employed as a teacher in the Head Start Program until her retirement.
She is survived by three children, Sandra Castor and her husband James of Henderson, NV, Jon Almeida and his wife Cynthia of Tuscon, AZ, and Andrea Alston of Greenbelt, MD; a sister, Theresa Almeida of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Scott Almeida, Jason Castor, Regan Allmeida, Juan Marcelino, and Leslie Alston; four great-grandchildren, Shabre, Syhera, Quinn, and Kylee Almeida; sister-in-law, Bella Livramento; nephews, David Reis and wife Irene and their children, Doreen and David Aaron and his wife Renee, Paul Almeida, and Paul Livramento; and nieces, Judee Livramento and Meredith Phillips.
She was the sister of the late Joseph and Antone Livramento.
