Funeral Services for L. Keith Turner, age 73, of 2408 N. Tift Ave., Tifton, Georgia will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2006,at 11:00 A.m. at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Turner died Sunday, November 12, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical after a short illness.
Mr. Turner was a native of Turner County, Ga., the son of the late Billy Sunday Turner and Juanita Shealy Peacock. He was a retired Warden with Ga. Dept. of Corrections and a Methodist Minister for 20 years serving six churches. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a Principal and Coach, later he worked for the State of Georgia setting up education programs in the prison system. He was a Mason and former Ashburn City Councilman, serving ten years. He also served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann Johns Turner on April 16, 2003.
Survivors include his children Lisa Weathersby, Vienna, Ga., Laurie Whatley, Leesburg, Ga. and Christie Carr, Tifton, Ga. and two brothers Buddy Turner and Freddy Turner both of Woodstock, Ga. and nine grandchildren and two Great-Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P. M. at the Perry Funeral Chapel.
