Obituary

Walter V. Kay, 96 died Saturday November 11th, in his home that he built 61 years ago. He was the husband of 64 years to Josephine E. “Tina” (Longo) Kay.

Walter was born in Sackville, New Brunswick on January 17 1910 and was the son of the Late George and Blanche Kay.

He immigrated to Massachusetts alone at the age of 16.He worked for many years in the warehouse and transportation field. After retiring, he and his wife Tina ran their own business, Tina’s Antiques.

Walter was an active participant in civic and town affairs, including serving on the Town of Hanson finance committee. He was the last surviving founder of the Hanson Athletic Association and coached their semipro baseball team in the late 1940s.

Walter is survived by his wife of 64 years, Josephine E. “Tina”Kay, 2 sons and their wives, George and Suzanne Kay and Dennis and Helen Kay; also the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

His service will be held Wednesday November 15th at 9:15 A. M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc, Plymouth Street (Rt 58 at the Rotary Circle), Whitman, MA., followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. ,in the St. Joseph the Worker Church, Maquan St., Hanson Ma. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman, MA. Visiting hours Tuesday November 14th 2-4 and 6-8.Donation s may be made to the Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay Dr. /Box 9060, Braintree, MA.02184.
