Obituary

Lieutenant Colonel Seward L. Eason (Ret.), 72, of Fitzgerald died Saturday, November 11, at the Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, November 14 at Crossview Baptist Church, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Barry Gordon and Rev. Tony Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00, Monday evening at the funeral home.

LTC Eason was born December 5, 1933 in Appling County, Georgia to the late Jim and Alma Tootle Eason. He was retired Lieutenant Colonel with 31 years service having served our nation in the United States Air Force and the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era. He received many awards and commendations including a Bronze Star. He was a Registered Nurse with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and he also worked as an RN in the private sector. He had lived in the community since 1989 from Camilla and was an 18 year cancer survivor. A member and deacon of Crossview Baptist Church, LTC Eason was very involved with mission work in Haiti.

He is survived by his wife: Ann Eason of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Dee Eason of Albany; Randy & Amy Eason of Palm City, FL, Lee & John Frost of Warwick, and Shelly Zee & Monroe Deese, Jr. of Kingsland; six grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law: Willa & Charles Bell of Bainbridge and Jona Sheffield of Screven. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother: James Eason and one sister: Verna Martin.
