Obituary

Deacon Joseph S. Kasenenko, 69, of Beverly, died suddenly on November 11, 2006. He was the devoted husband for 40 years of Anna C. (Raffa). He met Anna at work in the summer of 1965 and was married to her within a year.

Born in Danvers, he was the son of Wanda (Burak) Kasenenko of Danvers and the late Edward Kasenenko.

He was raised and educated in Danvers, graduating Danvers High School with the class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Army and graduated from Bentley College in 1973.

He wore many hats. Deacon Joe, as he was affectionately known, was ordained in 1990 and served as Deacon in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly, where he was also the former manager of the St. Mary’s Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. In Winchester, he was the business manager in St. Mary’s Parish. He recently became licensed as a Real Estate broker and began practicing with RealPro in Beverly.

A great father, he enjoyed cooking and taking family trips to Aruba. He accompanied his son all over the country on gaming expeditions. He was a fun guy with a keen sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him. His only granddaughter, Cheyenne, was the “apple of his eye”, and he eagerly anticipated each visit.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, Patrick J. of Chicopee and Nicki Rice and her husband Keith of Beverly. He was the dear brother of Joanne F. Kasenenko of Danvers. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter Cheyenne Rice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Beverly on Wed. Nov. 15th at 10AM. Deacon Joe will lie in state at the Discalced Carmelite Monastery, 15 Mount Carmel Rd., Danvers on Tues. from 2-4 & 6-8PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Deacon Joe’s memory may be made to the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism, Inc. P.O. Box 767 Framingham, MA 01701 or to the American Heart Assoc. 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Late veteran U.S. Army.
