Obituary

WORCESTER___Alfred J. Loconto, 88, formerly of 30 Derby St., died Tuesday, November 7 in St. Mary Healthcare Center.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Regina M (Komarovskis) Loconto, 3 sons, Angelo S. Loconto and his wife Patricia of Shrewsbury; Andrew J. Loconto and his wife Carol of Charlton and Alfred V. Loconto of Charlton; two daughters, Genevieve T. Poirier and her husband Mark of Hubbardston and Irene Loconto of Valley Village, CA., two brothers, Jerry and Anthony Loconto, both of Worcester; a sister, Ann Loconto, of Worcester; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by two brothers, Peter and Andrew Loconto and two sisters, Rose Ratchford and Lucy Loconto. He was born in Worcester, son of Liberato and Genovena (Graziano) Loconto and lived here all his life.

Mr. Loconto was a musician, playing with the Perry Conte Orchestra since the age of 16. He retired in 1983 but continued playing until about 2000. He also worked for the Providence and Worcester Railroad Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He graduated from Worcester Boys’ Trade High School and attended the Berklee School of Music. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and the Musicians Union, Local 393, Worcester and Framingham.

The funeral will be held Saturday, November 11 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday, November 10 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Health Care Center, 39 Queen St., Worcester, MA 01610.
