Rev. Linda Ann (Silva) Alfonso, 50, of Boston, formerly of New Bedford, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of Rev. James A. Alfonso.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Beatrice (Lomba) Silva of Acushnet and the late Boaventura Silva, she lived in New Bedford most of her life before moving to Boston last October.
Rev. Alfonso was formerly employed by Boston Financial Data Services until her illness. She was also a licensed minister who performed outreach work with the poor and suffering in New Bedford and Boston.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Survivors include her widower; her mother; two brothers, Richard Silva of Portsmouth, R.I. and Robert Silva of Bridgewater; her mother-in-law, Blanche Alfonso of New Bedford; an aunt, Charlotte Baptista of New Bedford; an uncle, Manuel “Leiling” Silva of New Bedford; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was the sister of the late Lorraine Chor.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 23rd at 11 AM in the First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Road, New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be Sunday, September 22nd from 4-8 PM.
