Cecelia E. Vail, born Cecelia Emily Zeppieri on October 3, 1918, passed away on November 6, 2006 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Vail on Oct. 6, 1993.
Cecelia was raised on Fairview Avenue in Groton with four brothers and four sisters. Cecelia was happiest when giving her time and many talents, sewing drapes and slipcovers for friends and relatives. At Christmas and Easter, nephews would come to her kitchen to learn and enjoy each others company where they would bake countless cookies and traditional breads for her three sons and many nieces and nephews.
She lived by modest means and tastes, but was wealthy beyond measure with the love of her family. She is survived by two sisters, Terry Pfeil of Waterford and Emily Higgins of Groton; three sons, Raymond, David, and Donald; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10am with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery.
