Obituary

Mrs. Frances May (Cooper) Thompson, 80, of Gorham, NH, passed away in peace on Tuesday October 24, 2006 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
Frances was born on September 23, 1926, in Portland, ME, to Duncan and May Cooper. She lived a remarkable life. She graduated from the Chaffee School and Connecticut College for Women. She married George E. Thompson, Jr. on October 1,1948, and journeyed with him and their children throughout the United States (including the Alaska Territory) and South America. She taught for many years in the school systems of Berlin and Gorham, and is best remembered for her warmth, wit and love of literature and music.
Frances was predeceased by her son George E. Thompson, III and by her husband of 53 years, George E. Thompson, Jr. She leaves 4 children Joyce Toth and husband Michael of Gorham, NH, David Thompson of Sante Fe, NM, Jonathan Thompson of Chattanooga, TN and Elizabeth Thompson of Gorham, NH; granddaughters Christina, Catherine, Christine, Stephanie, Melanie and Shakona and grandsons Michael and Gregory; great-grandsons Tyler, Brady and Spencer; sister Joyce and many nieces and nephews.
A private service was held on Friday October 27, 2006. Memorial donations may be made to scholarships funds at Gorham or Berlin High Schools.
