LEICESTER-Irene E. (Cleary) Vancelette, 75, of 1075 Main Street died Friday, November 30th in her home after a brief illness. She leaves 4 daughters; Diane E. Cooney of Leicester, Nancy I. Trudeau of East Brookfield, Barbara J. Asquith and Irene A. Messier both of Cherry Valley, 2 brothers; Robert and Bernard Cleary both of Leicester, 7 grandchildren and was anticipating the birth of her first great grandchild in February. A daughter Sharon M. Vancelette of Boylston died in 1973, and a brother Harold Cleary and a sister Joanne Pratte both predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of John and Anna (Tobin) Cleary and had lived in Leicester for many years. She had been a member of the YWCA, the Nerieds a senior swim group, the AARP Spencer Chapter, Seniors Club of Spencer, Friends of Elders anf the Leicester Housing Tenants Association. She was an avid swimmer and traveler.
The funeral will be Wednesday December 5th with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 759 Main Street, Leicester. Mrs. Vancelette donated her body to science. Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 4th from 7:00 until 9:00 PM in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcster.
