
Elden H. Piper Jr., 76, of 487 Stonington Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning at his home.
Mr. Piper was born on December 9, 1925, in Manchester, CT, the son of the late Elden H. Piper and Lilian Joyce Piper. He married Jean McLean on September 24, 1947 in Millerton, NY. He was a Navy veteran of WW II, serving in the Seabees in the Philipines and China.
He attended the University of Connecticut and went on to work for CL&P, retiring in 1986 as a work-management coordinator after 39 years with the company. He was a member of the Westerly Elks, the Westerly Yacht Club and the Mystic VFW. In his spare time he loved to garden and travel.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind several nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by a son, Craig Stephen Piper who died in 1995.
The family invites everyone to join them for a Graveside Funeral Service at Stonington Cemetery, corner of North Main Street & rte. 1,, Stonington on Saturday morning at 9:15am. The Rev. Mark K.J. Robinson, Rector of Calvary Church, Stonington, will officiate.
