Obituary

Cecile Marie Asselin, daughter of the late Alexis and Emeline Paquin, died recently at Hospice St. Antoine in North Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Benoit Asselin. Born in St Charles de Mandeville, Quebec, Cecile lived most of her life in Montville, Connecticut until her illness last year. She was an active member of St John's Church in Montville belonging to the Rosary Altar Society and it's Senior Citizen Club. She also belonged to the Montville Seniors, 050 Club and the Wednesday Crystal Mall Girls, along with numerous other senior organizations.
Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters Marie Charpentier, Albina Picard, Juliana Desrosiers, Rose Bassett and her brothers Wilfred and Leo Paquin. She is survived by her sister Elidia Blanchette of Woonsocket and Germaine Edgerton of Lakewood, California and numerous nieces and nephews along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews and her extended family of many devoted friends. She was a woman who loved life: traveling, entertaining, baking and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed working with and helping the children at Seaside Regional Center in Connecticut for which she worked until her retirement in 1979.
Funeral Saturday at 8:30am from the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St Eugene's Church, 1247 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation Friday 2:30-7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Antoine Residence, 10 Rhodes Avenue, North Smithfield, RI 02896.
