Obituary

Mrs. Young Lan Kim, beloved wife of the late Dr. Soon Eung Kim, died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Saturday, October 28, 2006. She was 75 years old.
She was born in Kimchun, Korea, March 20, 1931, the daughter of the late Chong Won Kim and Chang Wha (Park) Kim. She is a graduate of Kyung Gi High School, class of 1950 in Seoul, Korea and the Ewha University, class of 1957, where she received her BS and MS in Pharmacy. She owned and operated a drug store in Korea until the family moved to America in 1966. In following years, she devoted her time to raising four children and managing her household. In her spare time, Mrs. Kim used her artistic talents in home design, flower arrangement and painting watercolors. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and singing and she was a solo vocalist in high school and college. She also participated in various church choirs throughout her life.
Mrs. Kim will be sorely missed by three loving daughters and two sons-in-laws; Grace and her husband Paul F. Blinn of North Andover, Helen K. and her husband Charles F. Balboni of Andover and Clara Kim of New York City; son, Theodore Kim, of New York City; dear sister and brother-in-law; June Y. and her husband Danny D. Yun of CA, brother; Kyu Tai Kim of Korea; and, her cherished granddaughter of Samantha A. Blinn. A private funeral service was held for family and close friends. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Boston Korean United Methodist Church.
