Dr. David G. King a Needham resident for over 50 years died on Friday, October 20, 2006 at the Skilled Nursing Facility at North Hill in Needham. He was 85 years old. Born in New York City, he was raised in New York and Pittsburgh, PA. Educated at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and McGill Medical School on Montreal, Quebec, Dr. King spent most of his professional career as an ear, nose and throat specialist at the Lahey Clinic. Dr. King served in the U.S.Army in post World War II Europe. He was discharged from the army having attained the rank of Captain. He also served on the staff at Boston University Medical School and mentored and inspired younger colleagues throughout his career. His family, friends, colleagues and patients all benefited from Dr. King’s caring manner and great sense of humor and fun. Throughout his life he enjoyed sports of all kinds, both as a player and spectator. He was an enthusiastic golfer, appreciating the outdoors and the camaraderie as much as the game itself. He was an avid reader, traveled widely and took an interest in the arts. A devoted husband, Dr. King was the beloved husband of the late Anne M. (Pasqualini) for 53 years. He was the devoted father of Paul King and his wife Clarissa of Boulder CO, Monica King of Springfield MA, Craig King and his wife Barbara Singer of New York City, Jay King and his wife Annette of Frederick MD and the late Peter King. Brother of Barbara King of San Diego CA. Loving grandfather of Anne, Katie, Peter, David, Danny, Violet, Corey, Megan, Holly, Benjamin and Shelby and step grandfather of Evan and Eleanor. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Dr. King’s life will be held on Saturday December 9 from 2-4 PM at North Hill, 865 Central Ave, Needham MA.
