Robert P. O’Connor a longtime Needham resident died on Wednesday October 26 at the Stanley R. Tippett House in Needham. He was 75 years old. Born in Worcester, Mr. O’Connor grew up in Worcester and Brookfield. Mr. O’Connor was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran. He was a firefighter for the Town of Needham for 15 years, retiring in 1980. After he retired from the fire department, Mr. O’Connor worked as a locksmith in the maintenance department at North Hill for 20 years. The beloved husband of Eileen (Giumetti), he was the loving father of Scott R. and his wife Deborah, Barry P. and his wife Denise all of Needham and Janine Downing of Medway. Dear grandfather of Matt and Drew O’ Connor, Keith and Heather Downing and Julia and Caroline O’ Connor. Funeral services at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Friday October 27 at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment with Military Honor will take place at the Needham Cemetery.
