Obituary

Robert W. McPhee of Salem, NH died Saturday afternoon at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA after a long illness; he was 86 years old.

Mr. McPhee was born in Lynn, MA and moved to Salem, NH at the age of 11 with his parents Lillian and George McPhee. He attended grammar school in Lynn, MA and Salem, NH and he also attended Woodbury High School in Salem.

Mr. McPhee enjoyed cooking especially for large crowds, fishing and hunting and he was considered one of the best mechanics in Salem. He had been an independent Home Gas Dealer and he retired from Bracken Co. in Medford, MA He was a veteran of WW II where he served as a Sergeant in the US Air Force. He was an airplane mechanic while serving in China, Burma and India.

Mr. McPhee was a member of the former Canobie Fish & Game and he holds a lifetime membership in the Pelham, NH Fish & Game. He was also a boat inspector for the State of New Hampshire, a member of the Spicket Masonic Lodge # 85 in Salem, NH and a member of the club 85 of the lodge, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Nashua, NH and the Bektash Temple of Concord, NH.

He was a member of the Salem VFW Memorial Post # 8546 and the American Legion Ernest W. Young Post # 63. For many years he served as a volunteer on the Salem Fire Department.

Survivors Include:WIFE: Phillis (Patnaude) McPhee his wife of 52 years of Salem, NH

2 SON’S Bryan McPhee of Marlton, NJ Scott McPhee and his wife Carole of Plaistow, NH

1 DAUGHTER, Linda McPhee of the Netherlands

also survived by 4 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday September 19th from 6-8pm at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street in Salem, NH with a Masonic service at 7:00pm at the funeral home.
