Obituary

Virginia Stella Eaton, 74, formerly of 107 Hackett Hill Rd, Hooksett, died October 20, 2006 at the Concord Hospital after a long illness.

She was born in Winchester, MA on April 7, 1932, the daughter of Hamazasb and Virginia (Kazajian) Karakashian. She was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1949. She was a 1953 graduate of Massachusetts School of Art and also attended the Rhode Island School of Design. She earned her master’s degree from Notre Dame College.

Prior to retirement in 1993, she had been employed as an art teacher by the City of Manchester for 40 years. She had taught art at Manchester High School West from 1975 until her retirement.

In 1984, she was recognized as the city’s Educator of the Year. She was a skilled and accomplished artist and member of the NH League of Craftsmen.

She was predeceased by her husband Laurence E. Eaton and daughter Diane E. Gunther in 1993. She was also predeceased by a son Scott E. Eaton in 1975.

Family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Bradford and Ann Eaton, formerly of Hooksett, now of Bethlehem, NH; two granddaughters, Melissa Gunther and Celeste Eaton; her son-in-law, Mark Gunther; many nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was also predeceased by her brother, Ara Karakashian and sister, Mida Atkins.

A memorial reception will be held in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, on Wednesday from 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
