Dallas I. Vinson, 84, of Cypress Pond in Tifton, died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate with burial to follow in Irwinville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Pitts, Richard Pitts, Gary Vinson, Steve Vinson, Jimmy Vinson and Elbert Dowdy. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 23, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Vinson was born on September 7, 1922 in Ocilla and was the son of George E. Vinson and Ginsie Bowman Vinson, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Roberts Vinson and four brothers. He was retired from the University of Georgia College of Agriculture and was a member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and enjoyed gardening and attending church services.
Mr. Vinson is survived by one sister, Agnes Dowdy of Irwinville and several nieces and nephews.
