Obituary


Rose Margarita (DeAngelis) Zeeman died Friday at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

Born in Boston, MA on April 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Concetta (Ventola) and Michael A. DeAngelis. She married Chester B. Zeeman, USN Retired on May 15, 1941 in St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Charlestown, MA. He died in 1963. .

Rose is survived by her son Chester B. Zeeman Jr. of Ledyard. She is also survived by two grandsons Christopher and Andrew and granddaughter Jennifer Zeeman, granddaughter Stacey N. Pratt, and one great grandchildren, Jade, Tucker, Ute, Emilienne and Stephanie Zeeman; two sisters Eva Fleming of Somerville MA, and Alda Cotner Olson of Kennewick WA, one brother Michael T. DeAngelis of Lowell MA and their families. She is predeceased by a daughter, Margaret L. Pratt, sisters Antonia Driscoll and Cornela Perrotta and brother Joseph DeAngelis.

Rose was a Navy and Marine seamstress and worked for 18 years in the Navy Exchange tailor shop, retiring in January, 1981. She was made an Honorary Submariner of the USS Submarine School (SS30) on September 18, 1964.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 9-945am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church, Mystic at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Stonington.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Margaret Zeeman Pratt Scholarship Fund (soon to include Rose’s name), c/o Stonington High School, 176 S. Broad Street, Pawcatuck, CT or the American Cancer Society.
