James I. Knight, 69, of Mansfield died on Tuesday October 17, 2006 after a courageous battle with brain cancer at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the beloved husband of Brenda J. (Ferguson) Knight to whom he was wed to on December 23, 1958.
Born in Attleboro, MA on January 20, 1937 he was a loving son of the late Chester and Doris (Campbell) Knight.
An Attleboro native Jim grew up in Attleboro and was educated in Attleboro schools. He served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Division.
Mr. Knight was a self-employed Sheet Metal Worker and was the former owner of the former Oscar’s Lounge in Attleboro.
His lifelong passion was raising and training bird dogs. Jimmy loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a champion wildlife woodcarver for which he had received numerous ribbons and awards for his woodcarvings. He was a member of the Angle Tree Gun Club in North Attleboro. His favorite times spent were those with his family. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 32 years and was formerly of Attleboro.
In addition to his beloved wife of over 47 years he is survived by his devoted daughter Kelly J. Morse and her husband Joseph of Mansfield. He was the dear brother of Robert Knight and Lorraine Knight both of Mansfield and the late Nancy Cote and Beverly Greene. He is also survived by his 2 cherished grandsons Michael J. Morse and Christopher J. Morse both of Mansfield as well as his loving nieces, nephews and his close family and friends.
Funeral services and burial will be private. Visiting hours are omitted.
