Manchester Police Officer Michael L. Briggs, 35, of Concord died October 17, 2006 at Elliot Hospital, Manchester.
Born in Manchester on May 2, 1971, he was the son of Leland and Maryann (Fisher) Briggs.
He grew up in Epsom and was a graduate of Pembroke Academy in 1990. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1991 to 1995. From the age of 12 until entering the Marine Corps, he worked at Yeaton Dairy Farm in Epsom.
He began his career in law enforcement as a part-time officer with the Epsom Police Department. He then was an officer with the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections before joining the Manchester Police Department in 2000.
The family includes his wife of nearly 12 years, Laura (Swinger) Briggs of Concord; two children, Brian M. Briggs and Mitchell S. Briggs both of Concord; his parents of Epsom; three sisters, Tracie Davison of Chichester and Melisa Briggs and Sarah Briggs both of Epsom; his maternal grandmother, Cecile Fisher of Suncook; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Saturday October 21, 2006 at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium, Commerial St., Manchester. Burial followed at New Rye Cemetery, Epsom.
