Obituary


Peter Mason Edmonstone, 49, of North Kingstown, R.I., died suddenly Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 while restoring a home in Newport, R.I.

Mr. Edmonstone was born in New London and grew up in Mystic where he attended local schools. He graduated from New Hampton School in New Hampshire and received a degree in engineering from Northeastern University.

He loved the outdoors and was an expert skier, salt water fisherman, kayaker, backpacker and sailor. He learned ocean racing from his late father-in-law, Palmer Langdon and most recently raced J-boats in Narragansett Bay.

He was also a master carpenter and cabinet maker, inheriting both his skills and his tools from his father and late paternal grandfather.

He is survived by his parents, William M. MD and Sally W. Edmonstone of Mystic; his wife Cathy Langdon Edmonstone and an 8 year old daughter Mason Anne (Maesy) Edmonstone of North Kingstown, R.I.; a sister Nancy E. Stewart of Groton and two brothers James W. Edmonstone LICSW of Northampton, Mass. and Robert L. Edmonstone DDS of Old Lyme; as well as nephews David B. Wilson of Mystic, Will Edmonstone of Northampton, Mass., Andy Riquier of Ledyard and nieces Sarah Edmonstone and Alison Edmonstone of Old Lyme; grand-niece Kaitlyn and grand nephews Nicholas Wilson and Brayton Wilson of Mystic.

Services will be held at the Mystic Congregational Church on Saturday at 11am, with a reception to follow in the Parish House.
