Obituary

Claxton D. (" C. D.") Joiner, of Stoughton, formerly of Dorchester and Florida, passed away on Monday October 16, 2006 after a prolonged illness. in the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was 85 years old. Mr. Joiner was the beloved husband of the late Marypaul (Lallier) Joiner to whom he was married to for 58 years.

Claxton was born on May 1, 1921 in Boca Grande, Florida. He attended Boca Grande Public Schools and was a graduate of Boca Grande High School.

After High School Mr. Joiner attended the Merchant Marine Academy in Maryland and Graduated as a Marine Mechanical Engineer. He eventually attained the position of Chief Engineer and was gainfully employed by the Mystic Steamship Company in Mystic, Connecticut for the early part of his working career. After moving to the Boston area with his family, Mr. Joiner was employed by the former Boston Edison Company as an Engineer until his retirement.

Mr. Joiner attended The Trinity Episcopal Church in Stoughton. He enjoyed gardening and playing basketball, football and baseball.

Mr. Joiner was a very dedicated and loyal member of the Masonic family. Brother Joiner was a 46 year member of The Rising Star Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Stoughton and The Mt. Zion Arch Chapter, also in Stoughton. Brother Joiner was a Master Mason and was very active in all Masonic activities.

He is survived by his children, David K. Somers and his wife Arlene, of Stoughton and Paulette G. Kennedy of Brockton. He was the cherished grandfather of Renee’ D. Somers of Astoria, New York, Derek Somers of Stoughton, Shayne Kennedy of Brockton, Dawn Kennedy of Los Angeles, California and Andrew Kennedy also of Brockton. He was also the loving uncle of Diane and Danny Paluzzii of Stoughton. He is also survived by his two special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Walls of Stoughton, and several other loving nieces, nephews and friends.

His Requiem Funeral Mass for the repose of his soul will be held on Friday October 20, 2006 at 11: 00 A.M. in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 414 Sumner Street, Stoughton. The Reverend Rector Fr. Robert R.M. Bagwell officiating. ( NOTE: FUNERAL PROCESSION WILL BE LEAVING FUNERAL HOME FOR CHURCH AT APPROXIMATELY 10:40 A.M.) Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday October 19, 2006 from 4-8 P.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Brockton Dialysis Center, 375 Westgate Drive, Brockton, MA 02301 or The American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02110, in Claxton’s memory, would be appreciated.
