Obituary

Bedford-Lomer Phillip Theberge, 97, of 2 Jackson Square, formerly of Laconia and Belmont died Tuesday afternoon, October 10th, 2006 at Bel Air Nursing Home in Goffstown after a brief illness.

Lomer was the son of the late Napoleon and Elizabeth (Theberge) Theberge. He was born in St. Raphael, Quebec, Canada on September 19, 1909. He was raised in Canada until the age of 10. He came to the United States in 1919, moving to Laconia. He then moved to Belmont where he resided for over 30 years, coming back to Laconia in 1976 where he had resided until April 2004 before moving to his granddaughter Michele Roy’s home in Bedford.

Lomer worked at the Belmont Hosiery Mill for 25 years as a knitter, he worked for Manchester Sand & Gravel building Route 106 from Loudon to Laconia, and prior to his retirement he was the Produce manager for the former Grand Union Supermarket and Quality Foods in Laconia.

Lomer was a WWII Army Veteran serving with Company C in the 10th Armored Replacement Battalion. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 58 of Belmont serving as Vice Commander, and Secretary. Before the Town of Belmont had a full-time Fire Department, Lomer was a member of the Belmont Volunteer Fire Department, assigned badge No. 1. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia.

Lomer was predeceased by his wife, Blanche M. (Ricard) Therberge in 2002, and his daughter, Patricia Allard in 1976.

Lomer is survived by two granddaughters, Michele Roy and her husband Paul of Bedford, and Melinda Allard of Laconia; one grandson, Michael Allard and his wife Kayla of Pueblo, Colorado stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado; five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Tessa, and Paul, Jr. “PJ” Roy, Sarah Allard, and Cara Drew; one great-great-grandchild, Grace Roy.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday October 14th, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue Laconia at 9:00 a.m. Rev. Adrien R. Longchamps pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Burial with Military Honors followed in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia. Visiting hours were Friday October 13th, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial, 139 Church Street, Laconia. Family and friends were invited to attend.
