Josephine M. Alphonso, 80, died at home at Heights Crossing in Brockton on Sunday, October 8 after a period of failing health. She was the daughter of the late Francesco and Calogera (Antonoro) Alfonso. She was a lifelong resident of Boston until moving to Brockton over 1 year ago. She was educated in Boston schools. Miss Alphonso was a Supervisor in the Finance Department of Liberty Mutual in Boston for 30 years before retiring 35 years ago. In her free time she enjoyed walking and bird watching.
Miss Alphonso is survived by her sister Lucy Kenney of Florida. She was the aunt of Lorraine Dellelo of S. Easton, Lawrence L. Kenney of Lakeville, Kevin J. Kenney of MD, Frank Alfonso of Medford, Robert Alfonso of Milford, Richard Alfonso of Sudbury, Michael Alfonso of Belmont, Linda Brogan of Watertown, Frank Alfonso and Grace Alfonso both of E. Boston. She is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Alfonso and Charles Alfonso.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 12 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 6-8 PM. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Josephine’s name may be made to American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
