Rose was born on April 30, 1915 in Boston. She graduated from Boston State Teacher's College where she earned a masters degree in Education and Physics. She and her husband Edward J. lived in Belmont for many years where she was very active in the Belmont Dramatic Club, Belmont Hill School Parent's Association and the Museum of Fine Arts Ladies Committee. She became an expert on Egyptian Art, which she eventually taught at Harvard. At Belmont Hill School she participated in parent art lessons, and she developed into a successful artist. A lifetime of summers was spent in Hull where her painting expertise grew along with local artists who painted in her barn. Inspired by the coastal setting, her paintings became eagerly sought, and she won many local awards for her art.
