Manuel F. Pacheco. Age 84. Husband of Dorothy (Ferreira) Pacheco for 56 years. Residence Rodman St., Fall River, MA., formerly of Montaup St., Fall River, MA. Died Monday, after a long illness,at St. Anne’s Hospital. Born in Fall River, MA. Son of the late Mariano S. Pacheco and the late Antonia “Chris” (Dias) Pacheco Buckley. Step-son of the late Rose (Lopes) Pacheco. He was a life long resident of Fall River. He was 100% disabled Army Veteran of WW II. He participated in the Normandy invasion and was seriously wounded in France. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, E.T.O. Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the French Government Medal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post 486 of Fall River, The American Legion, and A.A.R.P. Association. He was a member of the former Our Lady of the Angels Church, now Good Shepherd Parish.
Besides his wife of Fall River, he is survived by One Son: Jerry Lima of Fall River, MA. Three Brothers: George Pacheco of Fall River, MA, Richard Pacheco of New Mexico and Joseph Buckley of Fall River, MA. One Sister: Elaine Ahaesy of Fall River, MA. One Grandson: Marc G. Lima of Somerset who he raised like a son. Two Great Grandchildren: Courtney Kersura and Michaela Arruda. Several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late John, Chris, Mariano, Jr. and Frank Pacheco.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St., Friday at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Good Shepherd Parish, S.Main St.,at 11:00 A.M. Internment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-8 P.M.
