CHERRY VALLEY-Irene G. (Lapierre) Prachniak, 89, of Cherry Valley, died Tuesday October 3rd in Life Care Center of Auburn. She is survived by her husband, Felix J. Prachniak, a son, Gerald N. and his wife Shirley Prachniak of Worcester, a daughter, Gail M. wife of Joseph W. Montysko, Jr. of Auburn, a sister, Marion G. wife of Raymond W. Gagen of St. Petersburg, FL, 2 grandsons, Gregory J. Montysko of Charlotte, NC and Eric R. Montysko of Germantown, MD, a great granddaughter, Heather M. Montysko of Douglas and several nephews and nieces. Her brother Norman Lapierre died in 1962.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Alfred E. and Gertrude May (King) Lapierre. Mrs. Prachniak was a 1935 graduate of Commerce High School. She was employed by the College of the Holy Cross as a secretary where she worked for 15 years before her retirement in 1982. Mrs. Prachniak grew up as a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, but was most recently a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Leicester. Mr. and Mrs. Prachniak would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on October 16th. She loved music and enjoyed gardening and reading.
The funeral is Friday, October 6th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Thursday, October 5th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
