Phyllis J. Pesce, age 84, of Woburn for over thirty years formerly of Somerville, died Saturday, September 30th following a short illness. She was the beloved wife for 56 years of Ernest D. Pesce. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (DePaolo) DeCologero.
Mrs. Pesce was a retired stitcher and worked for many years in the clothing industry. She was extremely devoted to her family and enjoyed time spent with her children and especially her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling and trips to the casino.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by four children, Dolores McCormack and her husband Richard of AZ, Stephen Pesce of Everett, Mary Wuertz and her husband Dale of AZ, and Karen Pesce Gallagher of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Christina Strickland, Michelle Schlote, Richard McCormack, Ernie Pesce, Cherise Pesce, Ashley Gallagher, Shenna, Stevie and Chanel Pesce. She is also survived by nine loving great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Josephine Norwicki of Winchester, Gloria Scuttel of Quincy, Marie Parziale of FL, Jeannette McCoy of Sandwich, brothers, William of Burlington, Paul of Hubbardston and Anthony DeCologero of Somerville. Phyllis is predeceased by her son, Ernest Pesce Jr.,sister, Connie Gaynor, and brothers, John and Robert DeCologero.
Funeral from the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Wednesday, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 2 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
