Belmont-Harry J. Parent, 86, of 25 Johnson Street died Friday afternoon, September 29, 2006 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Belmont, NH on February 9, 1920 he was the son of the late Ledger and Celina (Monroe) Parent. Harry was raised and spent most of his life in Belmont.
Prior to his retirement Harry was the proprietor of H.J. Parent’s Meat Market in Berlin, NH. He was also employed at a foundry in Connecticut and in his later years at Webster Valve in Franklin, NH.
Harry was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish in Belmont. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 1 in Laconia, and a former member of the Associated Grocer’s of New England. He was a WWII Army Veteran.
Harry is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret (Femia) Parent of Belmont; two sons, Harry J. Parent, Jr. of Nevada, and David Parent and his wife Bridget of Errol, NH; one brother, Ledger Parent of Belmont; one sister, Melvina Parent of Belmont; five grandchildren, Jason and Dustin Parent of Belmont, Myia Parent of San Diego, CA, David Noyes of Plymouth, NH, and Gary LaFoe of Errol, NH; three great-grandchildren; Harrison and Hayden Parent of Belmont, and Avery Noyes of Plymouth, NH. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive Harry.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday October 2, 2006 at St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main Street, Belmont at 10:00 a.m. Burial followed in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia. Visiting hours were Sunday, October 1, 2006 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia. Family and friends were invited to attend.
