Donald F. Arbuckle of Medford and former longtime resident of Charlestown, died on Thursday September 28, 2006 at New England Medical Center in Boston after a long illness. He was 68 years old.
Donald was born in Quincy on February 18, 1938. He grew up in Charlestown and attended Boston Public Schools. He graduated from Charlestown High School in 1956. Following his graduation, Donald enlisted into the United States Army where he served from 1956 until 1958. He began working for the United States Postal Service and was a Letter Carrier in Charlestown for 33 years. He retired in 2001.Donald was a retired member of Letter Carriers Union Local # 34. He was member of The Malden Irish American Club and The Halligan Club of Charlestown.
Donald is the beloved husband of Loretta (Carpenter) Arbuckle. He is the devoted father of Donna Murphy and her husband Kevin of Wareham and Edward Arbuckle and his wife Karen of Townsend. He is the loving grandfather of Ryan, Corey and Mykaela Murphy, Matthew and Michael Arbuckle. He is the beloved brother of John Arbuckle of Charlestown, Donna O'Neil of Wilmington and Maureen Condon of Hopkington. He is the loving uncle of several nieces and nephews.
Donald's Funeral will be held on Monday October 2, 2006 from The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 9 am. followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Donald will be held on Sunday October 1, 2006 from 4 to 8 pm. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
