Obituary

GILFORD --- Cheri Lyn Dennett, 54, of Cherry Valley Road, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Cheri was born June 29, 1972, in Woburn, MA, the daughter of Robert J. Vasquezi and Carolyn J. (Delong) Hansen.

Cheri was a woman who lived life boldly, fearlessly, and unapologetically as herself. She had an enormous personality and a spirit that could never be dimmed, she had a remarkable ability to light up any room she entered with her beautiful smile. She was brave, adventurous, and afraid of nothing, approaching life with a sense of courage, determination, and enthusiasm that inspired those around her.

Behind her larger-than-life personality was a heart of gold. Cheri had a genuine love for others, a compassionate soul, and a way of leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She made everyone around her feel special because to her, they were. She made sure to tell people that she loved them at every opportunity she could. She embraced life wholeheartedly, never allowing fear to stand in the way of an adventure or an opportunity to experience something new.

Cheri was a creative soul and talented decorator. She had an amazing ability to weave her love into a space with a keen sense of color theory and impeccable object placement. No detail was left unthought of, and she often fell asleep while imagining how she could redesign a room. She knew how to make a house a home. And, of course, she had a love for all things sweet. You could always find her with a handful of pink shimmer gumballs or Hershey’s Kisses!

Cheri was an avid runner and found joy and freedom in the miles she traveled through the woods every day. She also enjoyed skiing, embracing the excitement of the slopes, and spent quieter moments working on puzzles or reading a good book. She had a deep love for animals and a special appreciation for the unconditional love and companionship they provide.

She felt a profound connection to nature and spent every morning grounding herself barefoot in the grass, turning her face toward the warmth of the sunlight, and hugging her tree friends before she proceeded on her run. She lived for the sun and spent as much time basking in it as she possibly could. She also believed that all living things, from the plants in the soil to the deer that run in the forest were special and important. Her energy will live on in the natural beauty that surrounds us.

As a spiritual person, Cheri found meaning in the world around her and carried a sense of knowing, connection, and wonder throughout her life. She was completely at peace with where she knew she was headed after this lifetime and is now reunited with her loving brother Scott R. Vasquezi, and her wonderful parents.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, the light she brought into this world will continue to shine through the memories, laughter, and love she leaves behind. If you want to feel her spirit, simply step outside and turn your face towards the sun. Cheri’s life was a beautiful reminder to be courageous, embrace every adventure, love deeply and completely, and never forget to make time for the things that make you feel happy to be alive.

Cheri is survived by her loving husband Edmund Dennett; daughter Marlie Dennett; son Parker Dennett; cats Pepper, Pudge, and Rudy; and dog Auggie.
