Manuel Chavez Melendez Sr. of Ventura, CA passed away on October 14th 2026. After his grandson passed away, he was ready to be with him. Those two were always together on earth and now they will be together forever in heaven.
He was born on December 22nd, 1931, in Valentine, Texas. He served in the Korean War then moved to Ventura, California where he became a lifelong resident. He enjoyed coaching baseball for Saticoy Little League for many years. He also loved playing pool and going to Chumash Casino. We also can't forget his daily morning stops to the donut shop for his coffee.
He is survived by his daughter Irma, son Manuel (wife Irma), son Raul and his 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lydia, daughter Hilda, grandson little Manuel, great-grandson Ruben (whom he nicknamed Arnold), his parents and his 10 siblings.
We are forever grateful for the many years we had with our dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and great-great-grandpa. Rest in Paradise we love you always.
A service will be held on Saturday, November 7th, at 12 noon at Sacred Heart Church. Following the service we will have a reception at Saticoy Park.
