James P. “Jamie” Quinn, III, 67, of Lowell, died Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Donna C. (Bourassa) Quinn, his wife of 44 years.
Born in Lawrence on October 18, 1959, he was a son of Jeanne (Dumond) Quinn of Lawrence and the late James P. Quinn, II. Jamie was raised and educated in Lawrence. As a young man he served in the U.S. Army as a cook at Fort Dix. Afterward he returned home to Lawrence, and not long after, he met Donna. They married in February of 1982 and made their home in Lowell, where they lived for more than 40 years.
Jamie worked as an auto mechanic and spent 13 years at H. Wright Services in Billerica. Cars were his greatest passion. Whether he was repairing or rebuilding one, he was happiest with his hands under the hood. He was also a devoted sports fan, especially of the Boston Bruins, and he enjoyed watching wrestling. Jamie had a generous heart and quietly gave every month to the ASPCA and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Besides his wife Donna and his mother Jeanne, he leaves his children, Melissa Quinn of Florida and Jimmy Quinn and his significant other Erica Glass of Peabody; his two grandchildren, Nathan and Skyler; his siblings, Sean Quinn of Lawrence and Doreen Twomey of Haverhill; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, including his aunt Lorraine and his cousin Leslie, with whom he was especially close. He was also the brother of the late Mark Quinn and PJ Quinn.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jamie’s memory may be made to the ASPCA (aspca.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org), two causes he supported faithfully.
