Karen Leigh (Vasbinder) Ober, 63, of Commodore, PA passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Hillsdale Park Nursing, Hillsdale, PA surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of Robert Arthur and Evelyn Joan (Blose) Vasbinder, she was born on April 20, 1963 in Indiana, PA.
Karen was a graduate of Purchase Line High School and furthered her education with an Associate degree in the business field.
She was a longtime member of Plum Church, where she served as the church treasurer.
On August 14, 1993, Karen married Ronald Dale Ober. They have shared over thirty-three years of marriage together.
For the past thirty-five years, Karen was employed as the Director of Fund Administration with the Foundation for IUP.
Karen formerly served as a trustee and treasurer for her alma mater, the Purchase Line Red Dragon Foundation.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting and was known for being a talented cook and baker.
At the heart of Karen’s life was her faith and spending time with her husband, kids, grandchildren and extended family at family gatherings and activities.
Karen is survived by her husband, Ron; her children: Breann Baughman and husband, Nick; Evan Ober and wife, Emily and Madilyn Ober and fiance, Cormac Pagnucci and her two grandchildren: Harper and Brooks Baughman.
Karen was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her grandson, Max Ober, in January.
Also surviving are her mother, Evelyn; her siblings: Barry Vasbinder and wife, Jodie (Baker); Julie Fetterman and husband, Greg and Douglas Vasbinder and wife Deana (Mumau) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Vasbinder and a niece, Alicia Vasbinder.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026 at the Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. Visitation will continue on Monday, November 2, 2026 at the Plum Church, 17107 Route 286 Hwy East, Commodore, PA from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Pastor Ray Hill will officiate. Interment will follow at Rowley Cemetery, Hillsdale, PA.
