Obituary

Antoinette Marie Soba (Sarro), of Walpole, formerly of Dedham, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85 years old.

Beloved wife of the late Francis B. Soba, Antoinette was the devoted mother of Lisa Brown and her husband, Steve, of Walpole, Massachusetts, and Steven Soba and his partner, Melissa Labrie, of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. She was the cherished Nana of Nicholas Brown and his wife, Helen Labadie, of Lowell, Massachusetts, and Justine Brown and her fiancé, James St. Brice, of Manchester, New Hampshire. She was the dear sister of the late Louise Peckham of Walpole. She is survived by her sisters Carolyn Molander of Dedham and Deborah Howe, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Antoinette enjoyed a long and varied career. After raising her children, she worked as a cashier at Sears, later as a claims adjuster for Norfolk & Dedham Insurance, and finally in the mailroom at Dedham Institution for Savings, where she remained until retiring in her seventies.

Family was the center of Antoinette’s life. She treasured her role as Nana and took immense pride in her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She found great joy in the wildlife surrounding her Walpole home and spent countless hours caring for the birds, squirrels, and deer that visited her yard. A faithful parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Parrish in Dedham for her entire life, Antoinette looked forward each week to her Thursday knitting circle, where she crocheted hats for the church’s Christmas bazaar and enjoyed fellowship with her dear friends before attending the noontime (12:10pm) Mass.

One of the highlights of her life was fulfilling a lifelong dream to visit Ireland in 2017 with Steven and Melissa, a trip she cherished and often spoke about in the years that followed.

In accordance with Antoinette’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 5, at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s church. In lieu of flowers or any other recognition, she would be honored if you were to donate to St. Mary’s: attention Father Wayne Belschner.
