En memoria de Arnibio Fontanez-Rivera, “Primo”
Noviembre 6, 1954 – Octubre 23, 2026

In Loving Memory of Arnibio Fontanez-Rivera, “Primo”
November 6, 1954 – October 23, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Arnibio Fontanez-Rivera, affectionately known as “Primo,” son of the late Arnibio Fontanez and Carmen Rivera, who passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 71.
Born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, Primo later moved to Fitchburg, before eventually finding his home in the city of Worcester, MA. He will be remembered for his generosity, strength, dedication to hard work, and the kindness he showed to so many people throughout his life.
Primo was a quiet man who preferred to observe and listen rather than speak. Although he did not always express himself freely with words, he was attentive and noticed things others might overlook. When someone needed help, they didn't have to ask him twice. Primo was there, always willing to lend a hand and help in any way he could. He was a hardworking and generous man who showed his love through his actions.
Of course, he had a strong personality and could be quite stubborn at times, something many will surely remember with a smile. But that was simply part of who he was. Behind that stubbornness was a strong, dependable man with a generous spirit and a good heart.
He enjoyed music, spending time with others, and, above all, sharing stories about his younger years and what life was like back then. He loved reminiscing about his experiences and passing those memories along to others. He was also a talented painter, and his beautiful handwriting was another special quality that made him uniquely himself.
One of the most beautiful parts of Primo’s life was the family he found in the people who surrounded him with love and welcomed him as one of their own. He earned a special place in our hearts, and we loved him dearly. Because, in the end, he taught us that family is not soley defined by ties of blood, but that it is also made up of the people who come into our lives, walk beside us through our experiences, and remain in our hearts forever.
Today, we say goodbye with sadness, but also with gratitude for the privilege of having shared a part of our lives with him. We will cherish his stories, his love of music, his paintings, his beautiful handwriting, and the countless memories that will one day bring smiles to our faces even as we miss him. We will also carry with us the example he set as a man who was always willing to help others and give freely without expecting anything in return.
His absence will leave a profound void, but his memory will live on in every story we tell, in the moments we shared, and in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Rest in peace, Primo. Thank you for the memories, for every helping hand you extended, and for the love you brought into our lives. You will always be part of our family and will live forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his daughters, Yamilka Fontanez and Dinette Hernández; his son, Arny Fontanez; his grandchildren, Arniellys Fontanez, Yamieliz Nevarez, Mikayla Nevarez, and Yariel Nevarez; his goddaughter, Shanik Torres; and his best friends, Marisol Gonzalez and Araminta Rosario, along with other family members, loved ones, and friends who will cherish his memory.
